How to wear women's hosiery with summer fashion
This summer, in order to stay on trend, women may wish to cast their eye back a few decades and look to the 1970s for style inspiration.
This is because shorts and floor-length skirts are set to be the order of the day style-wise and for every look there is the correct women's hosiery to match with it.
Indeed, while summer is now fast approaching, the unpredictable April weather may mean that ladies wishing to step out in their new wardrobe will have to team the garments with black tights or hold ups in order to keep their legs warm until the sun comes out.
And by investing in women's hosiery, fashion-forward girls could find that they are able to lead the way into the summer in terms of style.
Shorts and tights a look for spring
According to the Guardian's Imogen Fox, it is a "wise woman" who chooses to wear shorts in early spring.
She explains: "Start wearing them now with thick tights and they'll take you through to September or thereabouts.
"Shorts are also easier to wear than a skirt of similar length as they're less revealing and so totally fit for purpose."
Ms Fox adds that shorts can be the perfect garment to wear for all manner of occasions, from a walk in the park, to a pub lunch with friends or even a relaxed work outfit.
This summer, shorts are set to come in all shapes and sizes, from safari-style combats for relaxed weekend wearing to sophisticated leather shorts teamed with black or sheer tights for an evening out.
Summer takes a retro turn
While shorts are set to all but replace mini dresses this summer, floor-length skirts and maxi dresses are also set to make a comeback, as fashion takes its inspiration from the 1970s.
And while shorts may be a clothing choice for the brave, Lizanne Harris, fashion director at Stylist, explains that the maxi skirt can keep a "multitude of body worries" under wraps.
She explains that longer skirts will come in a number of different guises next season, from denim styles which fall to the knee to longer floaty designs which scrape the floor.
"The only shape to be more wary of is if you are very short as they can swamp you. Always get a maxi skirt hem to hit on the bridge of the foot and just above or below the knee in an a-line skirt," Ms Harris advises.
And again, ladies could get on trend early by wearing such garments now and teaming them with some women's hosiery to ensure that they don't get cold.
Indeed, by taking this step, women could find they are well ahead of the rest of the fashion pack before the summer arrives.
