Black tights 'key to wearing mini-skirts'
Summer may still seem to be a long way off, but ladies may wish to prepare themselves to bare their legs, as the mini-skirt is making a comeback.
After years of boho fashion and maxi dresses making the summer a throwback to their 1970s, in 2010 more women are ready to dare to bare by soaking up the sun in a short skirt - however, the garment may be a daunting thought for many followers of style.
Luckily, there are a number of ways any girl can make the look her own, including by pulling on a pair of black tights, to ensure while there legs are on show, they are at their most slim-looking and flattering.
Women's hosiery may be the perfect addition to a lady's wardrobe this year if they are hoping to tackle the mini-skirt trend head on, but are nervous about getting their legs out.
Models Direct advises there are lots of ways for girls to dress the skirt down if the feel self-conscious about wearing it but are keen to stay on-trend.
The group points out leggings and Women's hosiery are to remain "very much in fashion" in 2010 and look great worn with a short skirt, while there are now a multitude of designs to choose from.
"Patterned and coloured tights are a big story and if you're bold you can really have fun with them. If you prefer a subtler look, or wish to slim your legs down, try something with a vertical stripe and stick with darker colours in a matt finish," Models Direct states.
It goes on to claim that ladies should not let their age put them off taking on the trend, as stars such as Jennifer Anniston and Demi Moore, who are both in their 40s, look "fantastic" when they get their legs out.
However, it may not just be confidence putting women off from pulling on a mini-skirt.
Across much of the UK the weather continues to be far too cold for legs to be out for long, which may mean even girls who are confident enough to wear a mini-skirt will find it too cold to do so.
But help is at hand again from Models Direct, which advises wearing the garment with a pair of boots.
Indeed, whether opting for flats, knee-length or thigh-high, boots and a pair of sheer tights could be the perfect way of staying warm and on trend this spring.
When it comes to mini-skirts, the only rule women should remember, according to Models Direct, is to avoid pairing it with a low-cut top, as this is a "no-no at any age".
But while women are busy stocking up on sheer tights and black tights, they may have competition on their hands, with Dancing On Ice star Danny Young recently admitted to the Mirror the girls go crazy for him when they see him in his tights and sequins.
