Legwear fans to be let down by Robin Hood film
Published: 16th April 2010
Do you love seeing good costumes in films? History fans will undoubtedly enjoy Robin Hood, which comes out next month, though will perhaps be let down if they are dedicated followers of fashion.
That's because Russell Crowe revealed that people who love tights and similar legwear will be disappointed by the latest outing of Robin of Locksley, as there are no tights in the new film where he stars as the Nottingham-based hero as they weren't invented until a few hundred years after the story.
He continued: "We start our story in 1199. Tights don't come into play until the 1600s. I do apologise to those who will be disappointed that there are no tights."
Then again, it's not as if they would've had practical advantages should they have been worn by Robin and his merry men - after all, it's not as if they're going to deflect a swinging sword or a barrage of arrows.
Raid the DVDs instead, should you want Robin Hood in his 'traditional' get-up; Maid Marian and her Merry Men is always a good shout, as is Mel Brooks' spiffing Men in Tights.
