Shorter skirts set to show off bright tights, experts say
Published: 12th April 2010
Forget dull, plain trousers, this year women are stocking up on other bits of brightly coloured fabric to cover their legs, experts have revealed.
While New Zealand is due to enter its winter while the UK goes into summer, one thing that both countries have in common is that there will be plenty of loudly-coloured legs on display over the next few months.
According to the Herald Sun newspaper, women of all ages filling their drawers with bold hosiery, including tights in bright pinks, yellows and reds, as well as in eye-catching patterns such as polka dots and animal prints.
What's more, they're also investing in short skirts so as to show off their striking legwear, with Auckland-based fashion expert Marlene Smillie noting that tights are now seen as a cost-effective means of stepping into the new season with a new look.
For a small investment, she explained, women "can totally update their look and fashionability of an outfit".
This advice comes just days after former Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien was snapped on a night out in Manchester sporting lacy tights and a black mindress.
