Tights are integral to new baseball fan superhero
Published: 07th April 2010
Despite the awful season that the Kansas City Royals Major League Baseball team had last year, one fan has showed unwavering belief that the organisation will turn things around.
Troy Olsen spoke to KCTV about his new role as Royal Man, even getting a costume to prove this dedication - one that was created following his hiring of one of the contestants from Project Runway to tailor a costume, including the tights.
He revealed to the newscaster that he wanted to show his beloved Royals more support, with the $400 (£262) costume being testament to this.
Mr Olsen said: "I've always seen the [Kansas City] Chiefs' super fans and have been like, 'Man, the Royals are every bit as good as the Chiefs'."
"Especially right now. And I said they need a super fan, so I decided that's what I was going to be."
The Royals have only ever won the World Series - the biggest accolade in baseball - once, back in 1985. Last year, they finished with 65 wins and 97 losses.
