Man jailed for smuggling eggs in socks

An ex-SAS soldier has been sent to prison for trying to smuggle 14 rare peregrine falcon eggs out of the UK.
Jeffrey Lendrum was attempting to take the eggs to Dubai, where they can fetch large sums for use in falconry.
In one of the more unusual uses of socks, he stashed the eggs about his person before trying to board a flight out of the country in belt made from the legwear items.
Mr Lendrum has been charged over egg-related crimes in Canada and Zimbabwe, where he was in the country's special forces when it was known as Rhodesia.
In an another smuggling mission, one Roberto Zavaleta Sol Carbrera was caught as he attempted to enter Mexico with 18 monkeys stuffed into cotton socks strapped around his waist.
The endangered titi monkeys can go for big money on the open market.
