Sock washing loss mysteries may have a simple solution
Published: 23rd August 2010
Smaller clothes items that go missing in the wash have undoubtedly been the bane of most people's lives at one time or another.
Socks and underwear are the most likely culprits when it comes to vanishing from a washing machine load, but one US man claims to be able to explain where they go.
Speaking to the Washington Observer Reporter, Sprowls City Appliance manager John Taylor explained: "The sock can go into the pump system and block it or it can get chewed up and [spat] out.
"If you throw the socks on the top, sometimes they will float to the top and go over the spin basket."
One celebrity likely to be seriously concerned if his socks go missing is David Beckham.
The LA Galaxy midfielder has not managed a competitive game since March due to an injury, which is being treated using compression socks to aid his recovery.
