Socks that peak over boots set to be 'bang on trend' this autumn
Published: 25th August 2010
Brits keen on staying up to date with the latest leg wear trends have been advised to set their sights on September 1st.
The Daily Telegraph's Emma Sibbles suggests adopting the "land girl hosiery" look, which she claims is the "most flattering way to wear socks and shoes".
In an article for the newspaper, Ms Sibbles explains that matching the colour of socks to that of calf-high boots, with a small slivver peeping "over the top", will be bang on trend next month.
She concedes that on the face of it this may appear a little "teeny", but suggests that this legwear trend is "worth a look even if you are over the age of 18".
Meanwhile, the Sun gave sandal-loving men everywhere a good excuse to wear socks with their favourite footwear well into the colder months.
The newspaper pointed to a recent archaeological discovery in North Yorkshire, which appeared to show that the all-conquering Romans even wore socks with their sandals.
