Socks 'deserve saving' when loved, says hosiery lover

Published: 15th February 2010

Sometimes you have to stand up and accept that clothing can be too good to let go, according to one man who has decided that he simply isn't ready to get rid of of footwear that has kept him constantly comfortable.

Peter Collins of the South Wales Echo explained that his favourite pair of woollen socks have kept him happy and relaxed for months on end and yet one morning, he pulled them on to find a hole, sabotaging the relaxation he once got from them.

And despite the dictations of "modern consumerism", buying another pair was not fair to his loyal legwear servants, so he simply fixed his old ones.

He continued: "Time was when a man would value his socks, treat them as friends, things of beauty which were to be treasured and not tossed away when a little hole appeared."

According to singlesocks.com, people ought to use any odd legwear for a number of applications, including dog bedding in a basket or as a jewellery protector.
