Chick digs green socks

Chick digs green socks
Birds' fashion sense is all too rarely reported, but it seems a week-old chick have found a way of standing out of the flock, it is reported.

Little Crane, an African crowned crane, has been dressed in a pair of green sock to help its feet develop, the BBC reports.

The chick, born a week ago at Paradise Park in Hayle in Cornwall, has curled toes and staff at the park have turned to a pair of socks to rectify the problem.

Now the chick is well on the way to a normal gait and the socks have been removed.

Little Crane is not the first member of the animal kingdom to don a pair of novelty socks.

Farmers in Australia recently found sheep sporting some organicsocks made from spear grass that had wrapped itself round the animals' lower legs.
