More socks collected for troops
Businesses in the town of Corning in New York State in the US have been getting into the charity spirit by helping to raise hundreds of pairs of socks for American soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has been reported.

The Socks for Soldiers drive saw businesses offering discounts and special offers for anyone bringing in new pair of men's socks or sports socks that could be sent to the soldiers, the Star Gazette reports.

Some 248 pairs of socks were collected, with the legwear items being sent to Tell Them Thanks, a charity established to help troops on the frontline.

Recently, the Warrington Guardian reported on sock drive for soldiers, which was held for British service men, organised by the mother of a serving soldier.
