Musical to put new spin on tights story
Published: 19th July 2010
Taking its cue from the likes of Monty Python's Flying Circus and the Goons, a new show about Robin Hood is to open in New Zealand, it has been reported.
Daniel Habedank is to take on the tricky task of musical direction for Robin Hood: A Musical Comedy Spoof, The Aucklander reports.
"I used to hate musicals when I was growing up. But working on the show has made me look at them differently. I can't deny that I'm drawn to the melodies," explained Mr Habedank.
Stockings are likely to be the order of the day for cast members as the show is probably more akin to the Men in Tights spoof film than the more brutal and realistic offering from Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe.
Crowe sparked controversy when it emerged that he had shied away from the Errol Flynn approach to the legend and ditched tights for a more pragmatic legwear option.
