Socks and sandals get Brits top spot

Socks and sandals get Brits top spot
Even if England doesn't come home with the World Cup this summer, there is an area in which travelling fans from the UK will undoubtedly come out top - being the worst-dressed tourists.

The socks-and-sandals look is being blamed for Brits being classed as the 'worst-dressed tourists', it seems.

Research carried out for travel website TripAdvisor found that Brits abroad were considered the people with the least sartorial elegance.

The poll of 2,717 European travellers, including 732 Brits, ranked British holidaymakers as being less well-dressed than both Americans and Germans.

There was little surprise to find that Italians, known for designer brands, were regarded as the best-dressed tourists while on holiday.

FabSugar in Australia recently argued that wearing socks with sandals could be carried off with style if people were adventurous enough to defy tradition.
