Bed socks 'respond to winter, kill passion'
Published: 03rd March 2010
The cold weather of winter this year forced a number of people to make major changes to their sleeping arrangements to stave off the awful effects of the freezing outdoors.
Gocompare.com carried out some research that looked into changing trends in the bedroom, which noted that 57 per cent of respondents used more blankets and duvets around the house and a further 52 per cent wore pyjamas or other sleepwear to bed.
Another 43 per cent of people admitted to wearing socks when snoozing too, though this issue - and the others - have supposedly led to an increasing lack of intimacy across the nation.
Mark Greening of Gocompare.com said: "It seems the cold weather has meant many of us have been reduced to hibernating under the duvet and putting extra layers on rather than stripping off."
Lauren Sherman of the Fashionista blog recently noted how the sheer tights of Marni, alongside the knitted hosiery of Prada, have proved there to be more than enough room for people to adopt knee-high socks this summer.
