Fashionista unsure of best socks for shorter trousers
Published: 09th March 2010
Some things are way too hard to gauge in the world of fashion, with Jess Cartner-Morley of the Guardian finding it particularly tough at the moment to decide what to wear on her feet with trousers.
She said that if you wear shoes with trousers that finish at the ankles, "the ungainly top-of-foot bit is on display", though she is still unsure whether or not to wear a pair.
Ms Cartner-Morley tried non-descript socks thinking they would be more invisible, but they looked as if she'd outgrown her trousers, while fancy socks looked "idiotic", comparing her look to that of Timmy Mallett.
She concluded: "I tried no socks, but people kept asking if I was chilly, so I concluded the look wasn't projecting the insouciant glamour I'd been hoping for."
Recently, Lauren Sherman of the Fashionista blog explained that women hoping to look immediately fashionable will undoubtedly benefit from wearing knee-high socks.
