Kids don fun socks for charity
Published: 25th March 2010
Children in Hertfordshire have been raising money for charity by swapping their regular school uniforms for colourful and fun socks.
Pupils at Parkside Community Primary School in Borehamwood took part in the special non-uniform day in aid of Sports Relief and physical activities and a talent competition also formed part of the day.
According to the Borehamwood and Elstree Times, a sum of £150 was raised for the charity, while the youngsters also learnt about less fortunate children in other countries and had a fun day in their eccentric socks.
Julie Muncey, headteacher at the school, told the newpaper: "It was altogether a very enjoyable day. The children and staff all looked very colourful and the event lifted everybody's spirits."
Marc Deanie, writing in the Scottish Sun, recently said that adults looking to get fit and look great while doing it should also ensure they are sporting the perfect pair of socks for the task.
