Knee-high sports socks causing a stir in the tennis world

The French Open has thrown up a few surprises, but not with the play on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
Bethanie Mattek-Sands won her first round match wearing a pair of knee-high black sports socks, a black skirt and a pink top.
She plans on wearing sports socks in a variety of colours for the rest of the season, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Wimbledon got a shock one year when turned up on centre court in white knee-high socks.
Defending her novel take on tennis wear, she said: "I think it's great. If you see two blonde-haired girls wearing the same outfits, it's really hard for the fans to tell them apart."
Meanwhile, the Williams sisters have been hitting the headlines with some interesting outfits.
Venus Williams offered a few revealing glimpses when she went on court in Paris in transparent underwear and black lace corset-like dress.
