US fitness centre socks it to cancer

A fitness centre in Illinois is taking an innovative approach to stamping out cancer, using a clothesline loaded with dozens of examples of footwear.
The Curves for Women fitness centre in Marseilles is selling fun socks to raise money in preparation for the 2010 Relay for Life event in La Salle County, which will be held on June 18th and 19th.
More than 100 socks of all styles and lengths, each featuring a personalised message from the donor, are available for a donation of $2 (£1.37) and, of course, the name of the charity drive is "Sock it to Cancer".
"People with cancer come in all sizes and shapes, so we're doing the same with socks that are for kids, men and women," organiser Marla Judd told My Web Times.
Organised by the American Cancer Society, the Relay for Life event will see people around the world running distances to raise cash to aid the fight against the disease.
