Christmas style 'must remain individualistic'
Published: 05th November 2009
Women wondering where to go with their style this season have been offered some tips from a leading stylist.
Nicky Hambleton-Jones, the South African-born fashion and beauty expert regularly gracing TVs and newspapers across the land, said the most important thing to buy this Christmas is something you really love because it will be worn irrespective of fashion, and individual style is the 'in thing'.
In regards to Christmas parties, sequins are "huge" but only if they are matt and not silver or gold, which are a little bit more "in your face".
For those wondering how to colour their Christmas socks, leggings or other festive hosiery and other items, Nicky recommended blues and blacks as they are more muted and more wearable when the holiday ends and fashionistas go into spring and summer, as they can be paired with jeans or a t-shirt.
She concluded: "The most important thing is not to focus on trends but to invest in a trend that you actually love because that is going to make you want to wear them and create your own individual style."
Nicky Hambleton-Jones made her name from five years as presenter of Ten Years Younger, one of the UK's leading makeover shows.
