Tights 'must be appropriate' for different ages this season
Published: 24th November 2009
Too many women are sticking with the staple of opaque black tights this season, though they should go off fashion's beaten path and look into more wild styles, according to a recent interview in Canada.
Rychelle Tuck, the owner of Red Ribbon in Edmonton, told the Canwest News Service that a layered look is very popular with women this month, as many are donning knee-high or regular socks over tights, leggings and stockings.
Adding a tall boot or a "chunky tunic sweater" is also a great way to rock the style, though women of all ages must ensure the style of legwear they adopt is not too painful.
She explained: "I think the really, really bold, crazy prints are generally for younger people. I think some of the solids and fishnet and floral prints could definitely be for over-35s.
"I just think you have to stick with what is appropriate for your body type and age."
One woman who does not believe in being limited by age to wear hosiery is Diane von Furstenberg, who was spotted earlier this year in fishnet stockings on the front cover of Purple magazine at the age of 62.
