Berlusconi judge condemned for turquoise socks
Published: 20th October 2009
A television channel owned by Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian prime minister, has sparked outrage after it criticised a secretly-filmed judge - for his socks, of all things.
Channel 5 of Italy had a production crew following Judge Raimondo Mesiano, a man who ruled against Mr Berlusconi in a recent bribery case, finding him partly-responsible of bribing legal officers in a case regarding his media holding company Fininvest.
The channel, in a seeming act of retaliation, described the judge's behaviour as eccentric and strange as it pictured him smoking and going to the hairdresser, with the narrator even criticising the judge's turquoise socks.
Channel 5's actions have caused both magistrates and the opposition to criticise the footage.
Earlier this week, Silvio showed what many may see as a little bit too much pride, declaring: "I believe there is no one in history to whom I should feel inferior. Quite the opposite."
