Leggings are '80s gone too far'

Leggings are '80s gone too far'
Leggings are fashion which really ought to stay in the 1980s, if the way people wear them at the moment is anything to go by, according to a commentator on the Emerald Isle.

Rosemary McCabe of the Irish Times explained that many people believe that by combining leggings and a t-shirt, they have an outfit, when in reality "two items do not an outfit make".

She explained that with regards to wearing leggings simply as a pair of trousers, it "should never have been rescued from the wardrobe of history", even if the hosiery is one of the more popular trends at the moment.

Despite their drawbacks, Ms McCabe was quick to explain that leggings are now as "ubiquitous as iPods" in modern culture - something legwear fans will be happy to know.

Earlier in the week, it was proved that even younger people can look remarkably stylish in leggings, with Madonna's daughter Lourdes rocking the look in New York City this weekend.
