Posted by SOCKSHOP

The moment all Star Wars fans have been waiting for is here – the second instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, The Last Jedi, is in cinemas now.

Reuniting characters from the original films, like Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, with next generation newbies Rey and Kylo Ren in a galaxy far, far away, the film has been described as an “epic space opera”. We take a closer look at what fans can expect…

What’s the plot?
Following on from 2015’s The Force Awakens, the latest film sees Jedi-hopeful Rey beginning her training under Luke Skywalker, who has some doubts about her immense strength with The Force. Elsewhere, The Resistance is preparing to do battle with the deadly First Order, which is led by Kylo Ren and Snoke.

Expect action, mystery and some Yoda-style musings from Luke.

Any new characters?
We caught a glimpse of a haggard Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) at the end of the last film and he takes a starring role in the new film as he reluctantly teaches Rey the ways of the Jedi, while his sister, General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), remains front and centre as the leader of the Resistance.

Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) are all returning, while the darker side of the Force is represented by the Kylo Ren (portrayed by the excellent Adam Driver) and the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis).

New to the galaxy are Laura Dern, who plays Vice Admiral  Amilyn Holdo, an officer in the Resistance and a strong female character, and Benecio Del Toro, who plays a mysterious and unnamed underworld character.

Keep your eyes peeled and you may also see some famous faces making cameos. Princes William and Harry and Tom Hardy all play Stormtroopers.

How has it been received?
Critics have gone wild for the film, with some claiming it’s the best Star Wars flick yet – or at least since The Empire Strikes Back. Why not go check it out for yourself? And if you’re impressed, don’t worry, there’s just two more years to wait until the final instalment…

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is released in cinemas on December 15. Make sure your feet are ready with our Star Wars socks.
