Christmas Party Prep - Our fave sock and legwear looks

Posted by Danielle

So the season is upon us. You’ll no doubt have received your invite to the office Christmas party and (of course, because you’re super popular) several other social gatherings in the run up to Christmas. But among the usual dilemmas of double bookings and over bookings and last minute bookings and such, lie the real issues... What do I wear? How many outfits do I need? The people going to this party won’t be going to that party so if I avoid being tagged in photos on Facebook can I get away with wearing this outfit twice? *DEEP BREATH* It’s truly exhausting.

Well fear not fervent party-goers. With these simple sock and legwear looks you can create your perfect outfit, or change up any ensemble for a chic repeat second outing.

The Colour Pop

Inserting a little pop of colour into your ensemble is the perfect way to break up a darkly toned outfit; whether it’s adding a bright suit sock and an equally eye catching neck tie to your shady shirt and suit, or teaming your classic LBD with a pair of opaque colour block tights. Alternatively, pick out a shade from your patterned shirt or dress, and match your socks or hosiery à la Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Pretty Polly hold ups shown below.

The Bold Statement

A pair of statement tights or hold ups and a change of accessories is a super simple way to switch up any outfit for a second outing. Sheer black tights with tonal patterns or nude tights with black details are really versatile, and work with block or multicoloured outfits, as well as with blacks and dark neutral shades. For guys, make a statement with a flash of bright patterned suit socks under your dark suit, be they striped, argyle or motif.

The Right Good Knees Up

Turn heads with an unexpectedly different look by combining your party dress with some fancy knee high hosiery or even a pair of over-the-knee socks. This combo works well with shorter dresses for a bit of a cover up from the cold, or just to minimise the amount of bare leg on show.

The Anklet

Perfect for a pop of colour out of the top of your shoe boots or for teaming with a pair of heeled sandals, court shoes or Mary Janes, anklets are a cute little legwear addition to a bare leg, short dress look.
