House some hedgehogs
As the weather gets cooler, smaller creatures like mice and hedgehogs will start looking for safe places to hibernate. Help invite some prickly pals into your garden by building them a warm place to nest. All you’ll need is a  large cardboard box and some leaves, sticks or straw to keep them cosy. Then all that’s left to do is make your hedgehog home colourful and inviting for your new seasonal friends.

Do some leaf printing
Take advantage of the fallen leaves to create some autumn-inspired prints and artwork. Head out into the fresh air to collect your leaves, then choose your favourite colours to stamp in autumnal patterns. If you have some fabric paint, you could even get artsy with t-shirts, blankets, tablecloths or duvet covers, bringing the best of the season’s colours indoors.

Play a game of conkers
Is there anything more autumnal than a classic game of conkers? Make a hole straight through the middle of your chosen conker, threading a piece of string through the centre like a yo-yo. Once you and your opponent are ready, it’s time to take your first swing. Last conker to crack wins!

Build twig tipis
Set up camp in your very own twig tipi, using falling branches or bamboo canes to build a firm base. Lean your poles up against a tree, or tie them together with some string at the top to hold your fort in a tipi shape. Cover with a loose sheet, then kit out the inside with blankets and cushions all ready for your afternoon camp-out.

Bake some spiced biscuits
If the weather’s looking damp, take your autumn activities to the kitchen and make some seasonal spiced biscuits. Simply take your favourite biscuit recipe and add in some cinnamon, nutmeg and a little ginger to give your treats a little taste of autumn. Find some leaf shaped cutters and decorate with orange, yellow or gold icing to complete your seasonal look.
