Socks for bike riders are 'very important'
The best way to stay fit and healthy on your bike is to wear the best footwear possible, otherwise you could run into all kinds of problems, according to new advice.

Bike World News reviewed several socks offerings for bikers, highlighting that specialist cushioning, support brackets and certain stitching can create the perfect healthy offering for day-to-day riders.

It recommended buying a pair of socks that can stand up to a lot of wearing and washing as well as ones that "show little of the fuzziness or wear that you see in other socks".

Shrinkage over time is also a major issue to contend with and can compromise the support provided, while they must also do their job in different kinds of weather, being "cool in the heat and warm in the cold", Bike World News concluded.

Senior museum curator at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto Elizabeth Semmelhack recently announced the launch of Socks: Between You and Your Shoes, a major exhibit looking into the history of the clothing item.
