Kimberley shows off dancer's legs

Kimberley shows off dancer's legs

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh looked classy and elegant at the Health Lottery event at Claridge's last week, dressed in a chic black and cream ensemble.

The pop star, who was runner up on last year's Strictly, teamed her black belted coat with some black tights and black heels, while her cream dress and bag coordinated perfectly.

Her dark blonde hair fell in curls to her shoulders while some bold red nails added a splash of colour to the outfit.

Kimberley was not the only celeb modelling black legwear at the event, with Donna Air teaming her blue skater skirt and black sleeveless top with some black tights and grey ankle boots, while Elen Rivas wore black leggings.

Other famous faces at the event included Rylan Clark, who stood out in a bold blue suit, and TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh who modelled pattered black and white trousers and a wide brimmed hat.

Socks and sandals on the agenda

Socks and sandals on the agenda

Both Prada and Agi & Sam sent their male models down the runway wearing socks and sandals, with the former teaming the footwear with 70s retro sportswear and the latter opting for patterned socks with Birkenstocks.

However, this is not the first time that the big fashion houses have tried to push socks and sandals with Burberry and Prada both showcasing the look at last year's spring/summer 2013 shows and socks gracing the catwalk at Dior shows back in 2011.

But the question is, will any men be brave enough to model the look on the street rather than the runway?

If you are tempted to try teaming socks and sandals, why not make a statement like Agi & Sam and opt for some brightly patterned socks?

Kelly Adams shows off grey tights

Kelly Adams shows off grey tights

While the former Hustle star's tights was only just visible above her knee-high brown boots and below her checked coat, she did show that black legwear is not the only shade to be seen in while the temperature remains chilly.

The star also wore a furry statement scarf and a burgundy dress, which peeked out from beneath her checked trench coat. She accessorised with a beige handbag and wore her blonde hair loose to her shoulders.

While Kelly opted for quite a low key red carpet look, a number of other attendees at the Olympus Has Fallen showing were dressed rather more glamorously with Lydia Bright and Frankie Essex both showing off their figures in floor-length dresses.

Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart ensured that the male attendees were well represented in sharp suit and ties.

Aoibhinn also opted for a black ensemble, with a dark coat with embellished shoulders and black leggings. Red socks could be seen peeking out over the top of her low-heeled black ankle boots and the outfit was completed with an over-sized cream bag.

Her flowing dark locks were left tumbling loose past her shoulders, adding some glamour to the simple outfit, while some statement hoop earrings completed the look.

Other attendees at the event included fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie and actress Meryl Streep.

Having been out of the limelight for a while, America has a number of films coming out this year and next including Chavez and X/Y, meaning we should expect to see her showing off her sense of style on more red carpets.

Good underwear won't let you down

Good underwear won't let you down

Former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts is the latest famous face to attribute her flawless ensembles not to her designer clothes, but what's under them.

The dancer and TV host, who is reportedly dating Declan Donnelly, told LOOK magazine that she always chooses high quality women's underwear so it doesn't show underneath her clothes.

"Good underwear won't let you down and I always go for seamless undies," she added.

"I hate it when you get pants that really dig in, it just creates extra lines and bulk that makes you look bigger."

The star has been spotted looking glam at a number of high profile events recently, wearing a striking white and silver tight-fitting dress to the London premiere of Oblivion last week and a skater-style green patterned dress to the 2013 TRIC Awards last month.

Tights on the Dr Who set

Tights on the Dr Who set

The Doctor's new assistant looked very on-trend as she strolled through Trafalgar Square, wearing modern clothes rather than the historical garb she has modelled in previous episodes.

She teamed her red floral dress with thick black tights and ankle boots and completed the outfit with a casual black jacket belted at the waist.

Her brunette hair was worn loose and looked a bit windswept as she and the Doctor continued with their latest mission.

Matt Smith wore the Doctor's usual uniform of shirt, bowtie and waistcoat with a knee-length coat and brown boots.

Coleman and Smith are currently filming series seven of Dr Who with the second part of the series hitting screens last month.

They will soon start work on the 50th anniversary special which will air in November this year.

British women love their legs

British women love their legs

The poll, which was conducted by fashion site Dressipi, found that those in Birmingham and Sheffield are proudest of their pins, with 61% saying they are the body part they are most likely to show off.

However, many respondents also said they like to dress to hide their thighs, which were singled out as a problematic area by a third of women in Leeds and London.

Dressipi stylist Natalie Theo said: "Our 'legs eleven' nation, stylishly flaunting their best leggy assets is not just about rising hemlines. Skinny jeans will do the trick and opaque or statement tights are a perfect alternative for those who would prefer not to adopt the New York front-row fashion week trend of daring-to-go-bare."

If you want to show off your legs but can't wait for the sun to come out, why not look at our range of eye-catching patterned tights.

Are tights and shorts on trend?

Are tights and shorts on trend?

Zooey Deschanel, Miranda Kerr, Nicole Richie, Alexa Chung and Nicole Scherzinger have all been seen out and about wearing shorts over tights in recent weeks, teaming them with everything from casual t-shirts to smart shirts and tuxedo jackets.

And it seems that it's not just celebs who are fans of wearing shorts over tights with a poll by Style Bistro showing that 87% of people love the look.

The key to making the look work is wearing the right tights. Most celebs opt for thick black opaques with black or denim shorts during the day, and sheer black tights if they want a more sophisticated look in the evening.

Hayley models orange socks

Hayley models orange socks

Rather than opting for a dress like most of the other female attendees, Haley modelled some black Zara dungarees over a cropped black and white t-shirt, showing off her perfectly toned midriff.

She finished the look with a white clutch bag and black chunky boots, with neon orange socks peeking out from above her shoes.

The singer's socks perfectly matched her bright orange tresses, while a slick of orangey-red lipstick added the finishing touch.

Hayley's Paramore bandmate Jeremy also flashed his socks at the event, with his slightly cropped trousers and braces combo showing off his black socks above his silver shoes. However, Taylor opted to go sockless, flashing some bare ankle instead.

Paramore's recently released self-titled fourth album topped the UK chart this week, knocking Justin Timberlake off the top spot.

Both leading ladies glammed up for the event, with Tamsin modelling a long white dress with a thin black belt and Anna sporting an unusual backless yellow velvet gown with gold glittery shoes.

Socks 'not optional' with suits

Socks 'not optional' with suits

A recent piece by the Financial Times highlighted the trend for wearing no socks with a suit, with most commentators deeming it inappropriate and impractical.

"Wearing no socks with a suit? That's just wrong - well, at work anyhow," Michael Gregory, a City analyst, told the news provider.

So when is it ok to ditch your socks?

Most style-savvy men would agree that wearing no socks with loafers or deck shoes on a weekend when the sun is shining is fine. Beware, however - for if the weather is too warm, you may wish to revert back to socks or suffer from sweaty feet. A trainer sock could be the ideal solution here as they'll help keep your foot cool and fresh, but allow you to flash some ankle.

But if you really can't cope with the idea of flashing plain black socks under your suit, why not opt for a brighter, more summery sock in a striped or argyle pattern?

Blahnik added that he loves to add a splash of colour to his ensembles with some bright or patterned socks and admits to having a huge collection, including a number of designer pairs.

Black dress code at Iron Man event

Black dress code at Iron Man event

It seemed like there was an all black dress code at the Iron Man 3 premiere last week, with almost all of the attendees wearing a black ensemble.

Rebecca Hall, Kimberley Wyatt, Lizzie Cundy, Samantha Barks and Susan Downey were among the celebs who opted to play it safe and wear black as they walked the red carpet at the Odeon in London's Leicester Square.

Even leading man Robert Downey Jr wore a black suit, but brightened up his outfit with some chunky pale grey and white trainers.

TV presenter and radio star Sarah Jane Crawford also opted for a little black dress, which she teamed with black tights, a black bag and black shoes. The only splash of colour was a slick of ruby red lipstick.

But while attendees walking the red carpet opted for sombre colours, the crowds who gathered to watch them donned an array of bright shades as they dressed up as their favourite Marvel characters.

Kate is ready for spring

Kate is ready for spring

The Duchess of Cambridge looked ready for spring as she attended the National Review of Queen's Scouts at Windsor Castle on Monday.

Kate, who is thought to be around six months pregnant, certainly made the most of the sun in a stunning mint green coat with three-quarter length sleeves.

The Mulberry jacket featured large silver buttons in the shape of flowers, in a further nod to the season, and Kate ditched her usual black tights in favour of sheer tights.

The outfit was completed with the Duchess's favourite nude patent heels from LK Bennett, a matching clutch bag and a pale brown pill box hat.

Kate also ditched the black tights for an appearance in Manchester today, pairing her sheer legwear with a loose flowery Erdem dress and navy heels.

The Duchess rarely goes without either black or sheer tights, with an analysis of her outfits by Vogue magazine showing that she has opted to go bare legged in public just a handful of times.

Silly socks for Cheshire fun run

Silly socks for Cheshire fun run

A fun run to support a Cheshire-based children's charity will be brightened up with the inclusion of some bright and silly socks.

The annual Joshua Tree hosted event will take place at the Marbury Country Park, in Northwich on Saturday.

The 2.5km race has grown in popularity this year with a record number of people pre-registering, and undoubtedly raring to go in their jazziest pair of socks.

"We're delighted with the way it's going so far but we would say to people that they need to register as soon as they can as places are filling up fast," Jo Pritchard, manager of the Northwich children's charity, told the Northwich Guardian.

Participants, who pre-register for the race, will also be able to get themselves some snazzy socks to commemorate the day in a post-race goodie bag.

Those looking for a more serious challenge can opt to take part in the 5km multi terrain race, but there are no restrictions on the socks you can wear, so why not make them a bit wacky for this challenge too?
