Stockings perfect for storing onions, apparently
Women that have worn out their pantyhose beyond repair can easily find creative alternatives to throwing them out, it has been suggested.

In a post on the Wallet Pop blog, Diane Wedner suggests a number of "handy uses" for stockings and fashion tights once they have outlived their use as legwear.

One option is using stockings as an "onion caddy" by tying off each onion with a twist tie, which prevents them from going mouldy.

Ms Wedner also suggests combining one cut off leg of tights with a vacuum cleaner to retrieve precious items that have been dropped out of reach, such as under the sofa or behind the radiator.

A former special forces soldier recently found an alternative use for legwear, when attempting to smuggle goods out of Britain.

Jeffrey Lendrum has since been jailed for his crime, in which he attempted to sneak 14 rare peregrine falcon eggs out of the country in socks which he had strapped to his body.
