Nobody is quite sure what makes a successful entrepreneur, but in the case of Dragon Peter Jones, it seems what he wears on his feet gives him a bit of an edge.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, the 45-year-old tycoon said he has always worn novelty socks
, and his stripy footwear has become something of a "trademark", even though his staff consider them to be the "height of bad taste".
"When I met the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Kensington Palace, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show them off," he told the newspaper.
"Much to my surprise, Prince Philip lifted his trouser legs to reveal his own pair."
A new series of Dragons' Den recently began on BBC2, with the departure of James Caan seeing the introduction of Bolton-born Hilary Devey to the den.
