The National gives sock video the toes up
A filmmaker and musician has won top prize in a competition, with a little help from his footwear.

C F Meister's entry into a music video contest for The National's song Exile Vilify was victorious, and featured the world's saddest sock puppet, MSNBC.com reports.

The competition was sponsored by Valve, the games developer behind the successful Portal franchise, and attracted 300 entries in the space of a month.

Mr Meister's effort, which follows the journey of a sad sock puppet through a variety of landscapes, landed him an Eastwood guitar signed by the band.

Recently, Patch.com reported that youngsters at the Bloomingdale Library in New York have taken part in the fifth annual Stupid Sock Creatures Workshop, with creations based on a popular children's book by John Murphy.
