FIFA reveal new socks rule
Football's governing body, FIFA has brought in new rules surrounding player's kit.

Lawmakers at the organisation have chosen to demand that any tape used to hold up sports socks and shin-pads must be the same exact colour.

The Premier League season kicked off this weekend, and despite other pressing issues such as goal-line technology, president Sepp Blatter is instead enforcing strip rules.

This could prove a challenge for kit providers, as it may prove difficult to find matching tape for all team socks.

It could also be testing for players who have their own rituals and superstitions when it comes to their football kits and legwear.

While the FIFA rule change applies to all levels of the game, referees are not expected to impose it in lower league matches, where often socks themselves do not even match.

The equipment rule has been brought in to help assistant referees distinguish between opposing teams when looking at the offside line.
