Just one in eight UK holidaymakers think that they and their fellow countrymen rank highly in the fashion stakes when travelling overseas, according to a new survey.
And travellers from most other countries rate them even less favourably, perhaps swayed by supposedly typical British fashion blunders such as wearing socks with sandals on the beach.
The survey by momondo.co.uk, the travel search site, shows that only 26% of Britons feel it's important to wear fashionable clothes while they're on holiday with only 14% perceiving their nation as a chic one.
It seems being comfortable is more important for most with 39% saying it's not important to dress fashionably while away.
Meanwhile, even lower proportions of travellers from the US, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Russian, Denmark, Norway and Holland rated British holidaymakers as fashionable.
But the country with the dimmest view of Britons' fashion sense appears to be Finland with just 4% of the Finns who were questioned praising their British counterparts.
