Seasonal charity surrounding foot wear is continuing in the run up to Christmas, as is seen by Gunther Elementary Class, which has collected socks for soldiers.
Bellmore Patch reports that Christine Meaney's class at the school in New York has collected over 100 pairs of socks as part of the Z100 and solidersocks.com Socks for Soldiers drives.
This is part of a What about now? initiative at the school, in which each class must help and support a global community.
"We're collecting the socks because if they don't wear them they can get very sick," Nicholas Bloniarz, student in the class, told the news source.
This comes after an eight-year-old boy from Texas vowed to collect a million socks for soldiers after reading a WWII book.
Tanner Adams, a third grader from Lufkin, has set up a Facebook page called "Socks for Soldiers, Lufkin TX" to aid his campaign.
