Ke$ha takes to stage in fishnets

Ke$ha takes to stage in fishnets

Ke$ha looked a million dollars in her gold body suit and fishnet tights.

Pop star Ke$ha once again showed she is not afraid to take fashion risks as she performed on the Graham Norton Show on Friday.

The Tik Tok singer wore a metallic gold body suit with tassels teamed with fishnet tights and knee high black boots as she performed her latest single Die Young on the show in front of Jake Gyllenhaal and Joan Rivers.

And the songstress's hair and makeup were no less dramatic than her ensemble, with her platinum blonde hair pulled back in two gladiator style plaits and black eye shadow spreading across her lids and up to her hairline.

She was joined on stage by a number of gold-clad dancers with their faces painted as skeltons.

Chatting to Graham ahead of her performance, Ke$ha recounted her experiences of sneaking into celebs' homes, including Prince's house.

The 25-year-old also managed to forget the release date for her new album Warrior, which hits shelves on December 4th.

Dakota dresses up black tights

Dakota dresses up black tights

Dakota Blue Richards teamed her red dress with black tights

Black tights can sometimes seem a bit plain, however, there's no denying that they are a great way to hide pale legs and keep cosy in the winter.

So if you want to keep your pins warm but look stylish at the same time, make sure you team your staple legwear with a bold bright dress and fashionable shoes like Dakota Blue Richards did at the Life of Pi premiere this week.

The young actress teamed her black hosiery with a stand-out red draped dress with a sash waist and finished off with leopard print and black shoes, which meant that she looked anything but plain.

Her bobbed hair was worn down and straight and she co-ordinated her bright red lipstick with her dress.

If you want to follow in Dakota's style footsteps for the festive party season, matching bright red and black with leopard accessories is a great way to stand out from the crowd.

Or, for a more daring look, why not try a traditional LBD but with some red tights?

Get cosy in cool Christmas socks

Get cosy in cool Christmas socks

It seems that Christmas knits are everywhere these days, with celebs such as Rose McGowan and Tulisa being spotted in the kind of jumpers which featured heavily in Christmas music videos from the 1980s.

The message seems to be 'the bolder the better' and we are likely to see a lot more festively-patterned sweaters over the coming weeks.

However, if you're not quite brave enough for a snowflake-patterned jumper or a cardigan with reindeer dancing all over it, why not embrace Christmas knitwear with your feet and warm up in some festive socks?

We've got a wide range of Christmas-themed footwear including elf socks, reindeer socks and Santa socks for both men and women. If you are really trying to get into the spirit of the season then you can team them with a Christmas jumper for a head-to-toe festive look.

Not only will they ensure you are on-trend, they'll keep your toes warm as the temperatures plummet too.

Rosamund Pike wows in leggings

Rosamund Pike wows in leggings

Rosamund Pike looked glamorous in leggings at the Les Mis premiere.

Most of the actresses attending the Les Miserables world premiere opted for full length evening dresses, however, Rosamund Pike stood out in black leggings.

The Brits actress showed that you don't have to wear a dress to be glamorous, teaming the tight fitting legwear with a black shirt and a purple velvet tuxedo jacket.

She accessorised with studded ankle boots and a black clutch and wore her blonde locks loose to her shoulders as she posed for the cameras on the red carpet.

However, with temperatures plummeting below zero the actress may have wished she had added some socks to the ensemble rather than flashing her bare ankles in the slightly cropped leggings.

Other attendees at the event included leading lady Anne Hathaway who opted for a floor-length silver gown and Amanda Seyfried who looked every inch the Hollywood starlet in an off the shoulder black number.

Maggie Wood rocks stripy tights

Maggie Wood rocks stripy tights

Maggie Wood looked cute and cosy in some stripy tights.

One of the youngest members of the Wood family, Maggie, showed that she can more than keep up with her famous parents and grandparents as she attended the screening of Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Wings.

The toddler teamed her green Tinkerbell-style dress with nautical blue and white striped tights and sparkly blue shoes as she attended the event with her model mum Leah.

In fact, her patterned legwear made her mum's black tights seem rather plain, although they were teamed with a green and black spotty skirt and a baggy jumper with a polar bear on the front and slouchy brown suede boots.

Maggie was not the only famous child at the event, with Chloe Sims' daughter Madison also in attendance. A few adult celebs, including Claudia Winkleman and Ken Pave, even snuck in to enjoy the film without any kids.

Men's leggings the next big trend?

Men's leggings the next big trend?

Male leggings or 'meggings' are the latest legwear craze.

In recent years it seems that men have been increasingly raiding women's wardrobes; first it was skinny jeans and now it seems that leggings and even tights are not safe either.

According to those with fashion know-how, leggings for men, or 'meggings' are set to take the world by storm as men realise what women have known for a few years - stretchy leggings are much more comfortable and less restrictive than skin-tight jeans.

Meggings are becoming an increasingly common sight in the US and having been spotted on celebs such as Justin Bieber and Russell Brand, they are likely to make their way across the Atlantic soon.

Speaking to the Telegraph about his fondness for leggings, Mark Dorosz, 34, an English internet entrepreneur who lives in Manhattan, said: "Male tights are so much more comfortable than skinny jeans," he said.

"I've always had good legs and it's nice to show them off all year round."

Anais Gallagher: Mature in fishnets

Anais Gallagher: Mature in fishnets

Anais Gallagher looked much older than her 14 years as she stepped out at the Viva Forever premiere in London wearing an outfit which would make many adult fashionistas envious.

The teen teamed some fishnet tights with a beige mini dress and black ankle boots, completing the look with a navy blue coat and a black clutch.

She attended the musical with her mum Meg Matthews and hairdresser to the stars James Brown. Anais has obviously being taking style tips from her mum, who looked chic in some grey trousers and a black military style jacket with black ankle boots.

A number of other celebrity kids were in attendance at the event, including Victoria Beckham's three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, who looked every inch as dapper as their footballer dad in their suits.

Emma Bunton's son Beau also attended, accompanied by his dad Jade Jones and Mel B's three daughters Phoenix Chi, Angel and Madison were present.

Give a gift with some socks appeal

Give a gift with some socks appeal

If you are at a loss about what to get someone this Christmas then socks can provide a solution which is both useful and fun and won't break the bank.

You don't have to stick with plain black or white footwear, there are all kinds of socks in all sorts of colours and styles which make perfect Christmas presents.

The key to making sure that socks are a well received gift is really thinking about the wearer when making the purchase. For example, a pair of bold striped socks could be the perfect present for someone who hates having to wear their boring suit each day while some winter thermals will show you were listening every time your other half moaned that their toes were cold.

Another fun way to give socks at Christmas is to use them as a stocking and stuff them with sweets and chocolates before leaving them at the end of the kids' beds, or even rolling them up and putting them inside Christmas crackers as an extra treat.

As you would expect from a bunch of comedians, there were a number of outlandish outfits on display at the UK Comedy Awards this week, however, Olivia Colman showed she has fashion sense as well as a funny side as she appeared in an all black ensemble.

The peep show star teamed her black silk and lace dress with black tights, black ankle boots and a charcoal coat with leather trim as she attended the event.

Her wavy hair was worn in a stylish up so and she accessorised with some chunky rings and a silver clutch bag.

While Olivia missed out on collecting the Best TV Comedy Actress gong despite being nominated twice for her work in both Rev and Twenty Twelve, she ensured she was a winner in the style stakes in her sleek and elegant outfit.

Other attendees at the event included Jack Whitehall, who was named King of Comedy, Keith Lemon and Kelly Brook.

Tights on show at Hobbit premiere

Tights on show at Hobbit premiere

The Hobbit premiere in London saw many of the ladies not hiding their pins under long dresses, keeping warm instead in some fashionable tights.

James Nesbitt's family certainly embraced legwear on the night, with his wife Sonia Forbes-Adam teaming her green dress and red shoes with some grey tights. His daughters followed their mother's example, with one wearing simple black tights and another opting for some glittery hosiery.

Andy Serkis's daughter opted to team her velvet mini dress and skyscraper sandals with some sheer tights, while Tania Bryer looked festive in a red dress, black fur scarf and black tights.

If you're heading out to Christmas parties this weekend why not follow the star's example and pair your dress with some warm legwear. Even plain black or sheer tights are a lot more attractive than goose pimply bare legs and glittery tights can really accentuate an ensemble.

Mica chooses tights at premiere

Mica chooses tights at premiere

Mica and Monet Paris both wrapped up against the elements as they attended the screening of The Double in London this week.

However, this did not mean they sacrificed style as Monet opted for glamorous glittery shorts and Mica showed off her pins in a micro mini skirt.

They both teamed their thigh-flashing garments with thick black tights and black boots and added furry coats to finish off their looks. Mica even went one step further and added some stylish leather gloves to her ensemble.

Mica and Monet weren't the only ones at the event wrapping up warm, with Lilah Parsons teaming her LBD with opaque tights and Sophia Leonie and Khloe Evans wearing leather-look leggings.

Other attendees at the event included Jessica Jane Clement, who braved the cold in bare legs, Brooke Kinsella, who also wrapped up in thick tights, Tamar Hassan and Gemma Atkinson.

Rod Stewart wants socks for Xmas

Rod Stewart wants socks for Xmas

What do you buy the man who has everything this Christmas? If you're Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster then the answer is simple: cashmere socks.

According to Penny, the rock star would like nothing more than to see some luxurious socks and kit for his model railway in his Christmas stocking.

"Rod is pretty easy to please. He never really wants anything, the things he likes are very simple luxuries: really good brushes for his model railway hobby and cashmere socks which he loves to wear in bed and on planes because he gets really cold feet," she told Hello magazine.

However, the couple's sons Alastair and Aiden can probably expect to see some more extravagant presents waiting for them under the tree, as Rod told the magazine there are a few "more shillings to rub together" than when he was a child.

If you aren't sure what to buy the man in your life this Christmas, why not follow Penny's example and treat him to some luxury socks.

Thermal socks will ensure his toes stay warm this winter while designer socks from the likes of Falke and Calvin Klein are a real treat for the feet.

Safari park overwhelmed by socks

Safari park overwhelmed by socks

Longleat Safari Park has found itself overwhelmed with socks after appealing for old footwear to help keep a family of chipmunks cosy during the winter months.

In fact, the Wiltshire attraction's sock mountain is now so big that they have had to request people stop sending in donations.

Keeper Darren Beasley told Heart radio station: "We made an appeal just over a month ago asking for old socks but we weren't quite prepared for the huge number of socks the public have provided us with.

"It's an amazing gesture and we could hardly believe our eyes when each new package arrived in the post! We definitely have more than enough now so we'd kindly request no more are sent in."

He added that the zoo is looking for other uses for some of the excess socks that have been sent.

If you receive some new socks for Christmas, don't simply throw old pairs away, a number of charities ask for sock donation each year to help homeless people and animals keep warm during the harsh winter months.

Sheer tights sales boosted by Kate

Sheer tights sales boosted by Kate

Whatever the Duchess of Cambridge wears, people want. And that doesn't just go for her dresses, coats and hats, her legwear is also highly coveted leading to a huge boost in sales of sheer tights this year.

Kate is rarely seen without her trusty tights, with Grazia magazine suggesting she only went bare-legged at two public appearances this year.

Figures show that sales of nude tights have increased by a massive 500% in the last 12 months and their popularity shows no signs of waning.

Tatler's editor Kate Reardon, told Grazia: "Up to about 20 years ago, it was seen as a bit trashy not to wear tights at all times, while the rest of the world has moved on - revelling in advances in hair removal and self-tan - posh Englishwomen have clung to them doggedly."

And if sheer tights aren't really your thing but you still want pins like Kate, the Duchess is also a huge fan on opaque black tights which she is often seen wearing with her favourite boots.

Matt Smith shows off bold socks

Doctor Who star Matt Smith is known for his dapper dress sense and he didn't disappoint when he appeared on the Graham Norton Show Christmas Special.

And it seemed Matt wanted the world to see his bold footwear as he sat with his leg crossed over his knee, ensuring he flashed some ankle.

Smith has discussed his preference for brightly-coloured socks in the past, saying his love of them was inspired by Michael Gambon. In an interview in 2010 he revealed that when doing a play with Gambon he noticed the actor's bright socks and decided to copy the look himself.

If you want to follow in Matt's sartorial footsteps, we have a wide range of brightly-coloured and patterned socks which will ensure your toes are bang on trend.

Ella and Myleene model black tights

Myleene Klass's Christmas Special may have been on the radio but that did not mean that she and guest Ella Henderson didn't look their best.

Both of the singers dressed to impress in festive party dresses and black tights, even if the only people who saw them were the staff at the radio station.

Myleene teamed her opaque tights with a purply red velvet dress with button detailing and wore her brown curls tumbling over her shoulders, while Ella teamed her black tights with a black mini skirt and a sparkly gold t-shirt, accessorising with a chunky gold necklace.

Ella was Myleene's first guest on her radio show and the two also sang a special festive duet.

Start matching your socks and shoes

Start matching your socks and shoes

Many people think long and hard about what shoes they will match with a certain outfit but then don't take the small extra step of choosing the perfect pair of socks to complement their look.

With tight-fitting trousers very much on trend, it is not unusual to see a flash of people's socks and if you are wearing old, mismatched ones it can spoil your whole look.

However, the right sock can really accentuate an outfit, for example, a lacy ankle sock creates a ladylike, elegant feel, while thick woolly socks are perfect for a country-themed look.

Adding patterned or brightly coloured socks to your work outfit can also help a bit of your personality shine through, especially if you have to wear a dull suit or a uniform each day.

And taking care when choosing your socks doesn't only have benefits for your appearance. Choosing the right material also means that your feet are kept at the right temperature and means you won't suffer from odour issues!
