Bellucci dressed to shake and stir

Bellucci dressed to shake and stir

James Bond, the world's most famous secret agent is setting off on his 24th adventure, complete with the gorgeous Bond girls that are an essential part of his high-profile missions.

One of the latest Bond girls to take 007's mind off his work will be Monica Bellucci, who left photographers both shaken and stirred at the photo-call for the latest Bond film, Spectre.

The Italian temptress looked every bit the refined Bond girl in a black dress with chiffon finish and red highlights, a look that was finished off by black tights and glossy black shoes.

Bellucci, 50, who is to become the oldest actress to grace James's arm and our screens, looked both sophisticated and sexy as she stood with fellow Spectre Bond girl Lea Seydoux.

Details of the movie's plot were few and far between and there is a lot of speculation.

One thing is for sure, though, it won't be without sex appeal.

Harry Potter actress Emma Thompson cast a spell on onlookers at a star-studded movie awards ceremony.

Thompson, who played Hogwarts teacher Sybil Trelawney, arrived at the Moet British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) sporting fashionable black tights , matching stiletto heels, a chic quiff and a silky blue mini dress.

She accepted the coveted Richard Harris Award at the Old Billingsgate Market ceremony in London on Sunday December 7.

Other stars at the ceremony included Thompson's long-time friend Dame Helen Mirren, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley and Olivia Colman.

Sherlock star Cumberbatch landed Moet's Variety Award. This followed recent turns as the voice of a wolf in Penguins of Madagascar and as Alan Turing for the codebreaker movie The Imitation Game.

Duchess gets into the Christmas spirit

Duchess gets into the Christmas spirit

The Duchess of Cambridge has been in the US practising her present-wrapping skills just in time for Christmas.

Kate wore black tights with matching gloves and a coat with a white trim as she visited a home for vulnerable people on Monday December 8.

She charmed residents and employees of Harlem's Northside Center for Child Development alike as she wrapped gifts for children who are considered to be among the poorest in New York.

The Duchess then participated in a crafts and arts lesson at the home, which offers learning and mental health support for disadvantaged young people.

Kate also joined children aged three to four, who were busy fixing decorative tinsel flowers and stars to picture frames.

All nine children suffer development issues, ranging from motor skills problems to language difficulties. They welcomed Kate with cries of "Princess!"

Duchess tells of 9/11 Memorial 'awe'

Duchess tells of 9/11 Memorial 'awe'

The Duchess of Cambridge has revealed how shocked she was at the moving experience of seeing New York's 9/11 Memorial.

Kate, wearing black tights , matching heels and a pink coat, spoke of the "awe" she felt while visiting the famous landmark.

The Duchess was at the site to lay a wreath dedicated to almost 3,000 victims killed in the 2001 tragedy.

The monument, on the site of the former Twin Towers, was the final stop-off on the royal couple's US tour.

Kate spoke of her emotional reaction at touching the victims' names, which have been cut into the bronze railings surrounding pools of water.

She put a white rose bouquet on a section of the memorial, which was apt as the rose is New York's state flower.

The Duke and Duchess each personally signed their names under their handwritten message.

The note spoke of their "sorrowful memory" concerning the victims of September 11 and also expressed their "admiration" for the bravery of those who had rebuilt New York in the wake of the attacks.

It's all hat jazz for Porter

It's all hat jazz for Porter

Super-smooth jazz singer Gregory Porter took to the red carpet in London for the first ever BBC Music Awards last night wearing his trademark hat .

The 43-year-old, from California, wowed the crowds at the Earls Court event with a performance of his songs Feeling Good and Liquid Spirit.

And he cut a great figure, looking every bit as slick as his music in a black jacket, grey trousers, waistcoat and tie.

Of course the uniquely innovative musician had to add a bit of a twist to his get-up, which was fairly traditional excluding the hat

A pair of purple loafers and a scarlet pocket square were more than enough for the music man to own the look when combined with the his headgear, which is a cross between a deerstalker, flat cap and a jockey's helmet.

Porter cites The Christmas Song singer Nat King Cole as his biggest inspiration.

Miss South Africa takes the Miss World Crown

Miss South Africa takes the Miss World Crown

South African Rolene Strauss has been named as the new Miss World.

The 22-year-old beat off challenges from Hungarian Edina Kulcsar, who came second, and American Elizabeth Safrit, who was third, seen here in a cowboy-style hat , to land the beauty queen title.

After Sunday's show at London's Excel Exhibition Centre, Ms Strauss claimed she would use her new status to increase understanding about how important education is in South Africa.

The medical student, who follows two previous South African winners of the crown, secured her victory before a worldwide television audience of an estimated one billion viewers.

Jacob Zuma, the South African president, said the nation was "very proud" of Ms Strauss, adding that her win was a reflection of her dedication and diligence.

Miss USA Elizabeth Safrit was another finalist to mix beauty with brains. She is a political science graduate who wants to be a broadcaster specialising in politics.

Comics don't let fashion standards drift

Comics don't let fashion standards drift

They may play a group of slightly lost university graduates on the Channel 4 show Drifters, but these three girls were bang on trend in the fashion stakes last night.

Jessica Knappett, Lydia Rose Bewley and Lauren O'Rourke rocked up to the British Comedy Awards wearing knock-out dresses, killer heels and black tights .

The event, held at London's Fountain Studios, was hosted by funny man Jonathan Ross and celebrates the best in home-grown comedy from the UK.

It saw Jack Whitehall win best comedy performer for the third year in a row as well as the Monty Python gang taking home a lifetime achievement gong.

And even though the Drifters ladies left empty handed, they certainly made an impression on the crowds that had gathered at the red carpet to watch the celebs arrive.

They joined pop star Tulisa Contostavlos and former I'm A Celebrity babe Ashley Roberts in providing some much needed eye candy in between all the men in suits.

Hats off to Cerys Matthews

Hats off to Cerys Matthews

She's known for fronting the pop band Catatonia but last night Cerys Matthews decided to go it alone for a solo show in London.

And the Welsh singer, who also hosts an acclaimed show on BBC 6 Music, made sure all eyes were on her during the performance at the Hippodrome Theatre in Leicester Square.

The 45-year-old looked every inch the rock star wearing leather trousers with a black jacket matched with a hat and white scarf .

Matthews started out as a busker and made ends meet by clearing rubbish from beaches before joining Catatonia, whose hits included Mulder and Scully and Road Rage.

Last month she was awarded an MBE by the Prince of Wales for her services to music, despite the fact that her last album contained an anti-royalist song called Storm the Palace.

Her Snow Ball show last night was billed as "a magical Christmas showcase of style and charm" - and it certainly was not lacking in either.

Priscilla Presley shines at Elvis retrospective

Priscilla Presley shines at Elvis retrospective

Elvis Presley's former wife Priscilla revealed her memories of the king of rock'n'roll at an exhibition of his most treasured belongings at the O2 Arena in London on Monday.

Wearing a classy black dress, nude tights and heels, the 69-year-old actress and businesswoman attended Elvis At The O2, the largest of all Elvis exhibitions in Europe.

Priscilla, who met Elvis when she was just 14 years old when he was in the US Army, said the most difficult think about being his wife was having to share him with his fans.

The couple married in Las Vegas in 1967 and she had their only child Lisa Marie nine months later.

She said the retrospective is all about keeping the star's legacy alive, adding that bringing it to Britain partly makes up for the fact that Elvis never played a gig in the UK.

There is plenty of time to see the exhibition as it is open seven days a week until August 31, 2015 and will only be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Cameron and Benji may tie the knot

Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz has got engaged to her rock star boyfriend Benji Madden.

It is thought that the 42-year-old Annie star, pictured here in a little black dress with black tights while filming The Graham Norton Show, could get married to the Good Charlotte guitarist in just a few weeks' time.

The couple, who only started dating this May, have told all their friends and relatives the news - but according to an insider, not everyone is pleased for the happy couple.

Joel Madden, Benji's twin brother and Nicole Richie's husband, is thought to be less than impressed that the two are planning to tie the knot after only seven months of dating.

It is thought that Cameron, who is worth a reported £57 million, has not asked Benji to sign a prenuptial agreement.

She has been seen wearing a sparkling gold ring on her ring finger for the past few weeks.

Revellers enjoy shortest day

Stunning amber and pink skies greeted much of the UK as the shortest day of the year saw the sun set shortly before 4pm on Sunday.

Many up and down the country donned their favourite scarves and gloves to enjoy the spectacle in the sky on the Winter Solstice, the day of the year during which earth is learning furthest from the sun.

The rain experienced across Great Britain in recent days is expected to continue until after Christmas Day, dashing any hopes that traditionalists had of a snowy festive period.

Forecasters have predicted that Christmas Day will consist of light showers and minimum temperatures of 0C. In fact, temperatures on December 25 are likely to hit about 6C in England and 5C in Scotland.

Some snow could fall on Christmas Day but it is likely to come on higher ground such as the Grampian Mountains and North Yorkshire Moors, and looks unlikely to settle.

Christmas stockings remain ever-popular

Christmas stockings remain ever-popular

Four in every five Britons still get presents in stockings on Christmas Day, a new survey suggests.

As well as finding larger presents under the Christmas tree, millions of people of all ages will also receive smaller gifts in traditional stockings.

Many parents admit they put presents in Christmas stockings to allow themselves a few more minutes shut-eye, with their children getting up as early as 5.30am to open all their presents.

But it isn't just the young that will be delving into their stockings with glee - the Asda poll discovered that around a half of people over the age of 60 also get one.

Two in three pet owners say they get their animals stockings full of goodies too.

The traditional clementine is the type of gift most people find in their stockings as well as socks , wooden toys and chocolate coins.

However, not everyone is in favour of the stocking idea. One in four people in their twenties say they would prefer not to have one as small gifts are a waste of money as they never use them.

Phelps shows off his socks appeal

Phelps shows off his socks appeal

Christmas socks may not have been the focus of many people's attention when they looked at Michael Phelps's recent Christmas Instagram photo. But they were one of the few items of clothing on the Olympic medal winner's body.

The world record breaking swimmer, with more Olympic golds than anyone else, posted a photo of himself looking muscular in a pair of bikini briefs along with green, blue, red and black striped festive socks.

The photo of him along with girlfriend Nicole Johnson and two friends posing in front of a Christmas tree was captioned " 'Yep.... I forgot my pjs for the pjs party.... Oops #gfore #aquasphere."

Everyone else in the picture wore pyjamas including Miss Johnson, who recently rekindled her relationship with Phelps after a 2012 breakup.

Wade gunned down by The Bullet

Wade gunned down by The Bullet

'The Bullet' Stephen Bunting put on a right royal performance at the William Hill World Darts Championships on Monday night.

With Prince Harry among the boisterous Alexandra Palace crowd, the self-confessed Peter Griffin lookalike beat 'The Machine' James Wade 4-1.

Bunting plays up his resemblance to the character in US cartoon Family Guy by wearing novelty socks based on the hit animated show.

His double top performance impressed the crowd and he is now seen as a major contender for the title in his first year in PDC competition, after winning the BDO tournament last January and switching codes just weeks later.

Ranked number 27 in the world, 29-year-old Bunting was up against sixth-favourite Wade. Bunting took the first set when he hit the bull for a 161 finish, but The Machine levelled with the second set.

The next two sets went to The Bullet and he hit two treble 18s and a double 18 to checkout on 144. Bunting hit eight 180s while Wade could only manage two and Bunting finished off the match with a double 10. His third round opponent will be Michael Smith.

The tight way to stocking success

The tight way to stocking success

It was a 'tight' final, but Bianca Miller and her idea for a hosiery company just missed out on a quarter-million pound investment from Sir Alan Sugar in this year's Apprentice.

Miss Miller went onto the show armed with her savvy business plan; a proposal to launch a range of opaque tights to match different skin tones for the cosmopolitan women of modern Britain.

Though she didn't get the prize investment, Bianca still plans on launching her new range of tights with success in mind.

She first dreamed up the idea when she was 18 with little choice in tights for her darker legs. She said that eight years ago there was little variety out there in terms of skin tone-matching hosiery.

She started to think this was a hole in the modern market that she could fill, helping fashion savvy women and making money in the process. She became even more determined to start a company making tights when she worked in the City and could not find any tights suitable for her skin tone at all.

Miss Miller often ended up wearing black tights for lack of any better option, but now all that is going to change. The soon-to-be fashion designer says that her friends cannot wait to be wearing Bianca Miller Tights and she doesn't intend to keep them waiting.

Giant scarf boost for charities

Giant scarf boost for charities

A giant scarf which was more than 2,000 squares long has helped to boost two charities in the lead-up to Christmas.

Back in February, cancer charity Cobalt asked fundraisers to lend a hand to its efforts to secure a £1.8 million state-of-the-art scanner.

Set an initial target of a 500-square scarf, supporters managed to knit more than 2,000 squares during the Big Woolly Blanket appeal to produce a scarf big enough to keep the new PET/CT scanner warm.

With the scanner now installed, the scarf is being divided into almost 100 blankets. They are being given to the County Community Projects (CCP) charity in a bid to keep vulnerable and homeless people warm this winter.

CCP fundraising director Nigel McPeake said that the charity was delighted to support the Cobalt appeal.

Cobalt installed the new scanner last month and it will be used to help spot the early onset of cancer and dementia. The device will also be used in national research projects.

Black is the Ora of the day

Black is the Ora of the day

Some would give their lives for a date with British beauty Rita Ora, but Tom Ford only had to give the singer this stunning dress.

From translucent stockings and platinum shoes to a long, sleek, black scarf and smoky eyes, Ora looked every inch the star at the British Fashion Awards, while Tom looked pretty pleased with himself.

The sultry singer pushed the heat up to maximum with a black gown split to her upper thigh to show off her stockings and her shapely pins.

The top half was just as risqué, with a purple and black gem-encrusted leather top and see-through middle making the most of her curves.

High-contrast blacks were the order of the day for Ora and they really stood out against her skin and platinum hair.

Silver jewellery and platinum platform shoes completed the look, contrasting with the clothes, stockings and sultry eye shadow to make a real statement.

Schoolchildren collect gloves for homeless

Schoolchildren collect gloves for homeless

A charity, a business and a school are teaming up to help homeless people stay warm this winter.

Hull's homeless are being given gloves to wear in the cold amid fears that their numbers are growing.

Charity Emmaus Hull is also appealing to residents to provide socks, hats and men's underwear, as well as toiletries and gloves, to assist those living rough on Hull's streets.

The charity is partnering with pupils from Winifred Holtby Academy and safety equipment firm Arco in the campaign.

The company is donating gloves to homeless people or those who are now in temporary accommodation after living rough.

The East Hull students are collecting gloves and toiletries and hoping to break the record for most gloves put on one hand in one minute.

In addition, the charity is constructing a unit for the city's homeless in which to work and live.

The 30-bedroom building, which will cost £2.7 million, is being built on a plot which has been donated by the city council.
