Super-smooth jazz singer Gregory Porter took to the red carpet in London for the first ever BBC Music Awards last night wearing his trademark hat .
The 43-year-old, from California, wowed the crowds at the Earls Court event with a performance of his songs Feeling Good and Liquid Spirit.
And he cut a great figure, looking every bit as slick as his music in a black jacket, grey trousers, waistcoat and tie.
Of course the uniquely innovative musician had to add a bit of a twist to his get-up, which was fairly traditional excluding the hat
A pair of purple loafers and a scarlet pocket square were more than enough for the music man to own the look when combined with the his headgear, which is a cross between a deerstalker, flat cap and a jockey's helmet.
Porter cites The Christmas Song singer Nat King Cole as his biggest inspiration.
