Most people expect legwear to be adorning the legs of British women or curled up in a sock draw, not at an art gallery.
However, one British artist has used a range of women's tights
to create his newest sculptures, it has been reported.
Dudley College lecturer and artist Robert Bowers told local paper the Express and Star that his recent exhibition for the local museum and art gallery contains 56 new pieces.
Some of these have been crafted using tights
stretched over curvy, female frames and coated with resin.
The sculptures can be placed outside, even in bad weather, he said.
"When rain falls on them it makes the same sound as when you hear rain falling on a caravan roof. It is a wonderful sound which reminds me of some great caravan holidays," Mr Bowers added.
It is not just Mr Bowers who has recognised the creative potential nestling within ordinary hosiery
