Socks and oats 'the key to beautiful skin'
Some rather unusual sock-based beauty advice has been issued to lovers keen to give their skin a healthy glow and impress their partners this Valentines.

Rude Health claims its Fruity Date porridge is a tasty and nutritious start to the day, which is a normal claim for a health cereal to make.

However, the company suggests that as well as eating regular bowlfuls, consumers add oats to a sock or stocking and enjoy a 20-minute soak in the bath with it.

Rather unusually, it claims that soggy oats wrapped in a sock can give the skin an "extra healthy glow".

"We wouldn't recommend eating them when you're done but that's your call," the manufacturer adds.

According to the Essential Backpacker: A Complete Guide for the Foot Traveller, it is also important for a person to consider their skin when buying their socks.

Consumers should choose materials which allow skin to breathe and carry moisture away from the foot to avoid blisters, the book suggests.
