A newscaster has caused a rather big stir following her appearance on a major cornerstone of BBC late night programme, pairing a pair of plain dark tights
with a skirt - and one which had a particularly large split in it.
Kirsty Wark, who covers a few evenings a week on Newsnight in place of Jeremy Paxman, was singled out by the Daily Mail for perhaps lowering standards by wearing an outfit which revealed a little bit of her leg as she spoke to experts about the internet.
However, the somewhat questionable stance of the newspaper was made clear, though it at least took into account how hosiery
helped her: "Fortunately, she had tights
underneath the racy number, but it was still very close to her rear and possibly a little unsuitable for a serious news programme."
Kirsty is not averse to controversy, however, forcing the BBC to once make an apology to Scottish first minister Alex Salmond, over her purported "rude and dismissive" tone on one episode of Newsnight.
