Over 50s urged to embrace life
Turning 50 should be viewed as an opportunity to embrace life a little bit more, rather than carrying negative implications.

Your fifties need not mean a switch from fishnets to flesh coloured tights, or from boob tube to blue rinse and plenty of over 50s are proving just that.

Fabafterfifty.co.uk founder Ceri Wheeldon explained: "A lot of people follow passions that they perhaps had when they were in their late teens or early 20s - whether that is sport, painting or art.

"We are 50 years young, not 50 years old. Turning 50 is about re-invention rather than retirement."

Ms Wheeldon notes that technology is making it much easier for people to follow their passions, whether that's fashion, art, travel or writing.

This is part of the reason she believes attitudes to getting older are changing - and this is something she encourages over 50s to embrace, wholeheartedly, so they can make the most of their lives.
