No New Year celebration would be complete without bangers.
But the ones cookery king Ken Hom came searching for in London were of the meaty, not the firework variety.
Hom, pictured here wearing a trendy monochrome men's scarf , admitted on Chinese New Year's Eve (Wednesday, February 18) that he was carrying sausages in his luggage.
The 65-year-old told reporters that Chinese sausages made in the English capital are the best in the world.
Hom buys his wind-dried meaty treats from Chinatown and follows his mother's old practice of cooking them with rice and fried eggs.
He said he has been visiting this country for nearly three decades to take part in Chinese New Year's festivities.
Fish, noodles, duck and chicken are among his favourite dishes for the season.
Hom's secret of hosting a top New Year party is to cook a maximum of two dishes and enjoys plenty of champagne and wine.
He also divulged the reason for his on-screen calmness. He said cooking is not working, it is a relaxation.
