Captain Crunch has been on the prowl to find a few more credit crisis-busting tips, with the Sun's crusader finding more use for tights after they get laddered.
The reporter highlighted tips handed out liberally by new book Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things, which does not overlook the already-useful hosiery
He continued: "Bring out the shine in freshly polished shoes by buffing them with a scrunched up old pair of tights
. It works so well you may never try another method."
Other ideas include using olive oil with white vinegar to polish furniture, or harnessing clear nail varnish on buttons to prevent the thread fraying.
The book is published by Reader's Digest, which was first established by De Witt and Lila Wallace in 1922 in a Greenwich Village apartment.
