First graders at Oak Ridge Elementary in North Carolina enjoyed a spot of ice skating without the traditional foot wear, it has been reported.
WFMY News 2 writes on digtriad.com that the students were asked to participate in a couples ice dancing routine - wearing socks in place of skates.
"We had to do some skating ideas and we had to do it all at the same time and we all had to hold hands," first grader Bella Jansson told the website.
"I thought it was really cool that we got to do it, it made me feel like I was on the real skating rink."
This comes ahead of the class trip to the US Figure Skating Championships.
Meanwhile, one expert has advised that people ditch the cheap socks during winter in favour of more up-market footwear.
Expert Matt Dellandrea told the Toronto Sun that it is important to wear a sock that will suck the moisture from feet to avoid becoming cold.
