Wedding guests 'can now wear black'
Wedding guests should feel free to wear any colour, as long as it is not white, according to one expert.

Stylist Nicky Hambleton-Jones has said that although black is not traditionally worn to weddings, "nowadays anything goes".

If this trend catches on, brides could see a lot more of their friends attending their wedding in dark dresses, tights and shoes.

Last week, future princess Kate Middleton, made waves in the fashion world as she wore a black dress and coat to a friend's wedding.

Ms Hambleton-Jones said: "Pick something that really suits your shape and your mood - you're no use to anyone wearing something that you're not comfortable in because you won't have fun and it will show."

However, she did add that it is inadvisable for guests to wear white because this could risk upstaging the bride.

According to research by Direct Line, wedding guests plan to spend an average of £215 getting ready for each wedding. This includes attire, travel, accommodation, childcare, drinks and the cost of attending.
