Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has advised his players to don specific leg wear to help improve their performance on the pitch, the Daily Star reports.
The 47-year-old has asked the team to slip into compression socks
every evening to help their circulation and the health of their legs.
As well as wearing the specialist hosiery players have been told to take ice-cold baths before and avoid late night computer games to ensure they get enough sleep before matches and training practices.
"Once our guys are out of the bath we advise them to wear compression socks for the evening to help promote a favourable blood flow," the club's sports science chief Dr Sam Erith told the newspaper.
Mario Ballotelli and his fellow teammates have also been put on a diet of spicy curries, which Dr Erith claims if eaten regularly "may help if you suffer from general joint pain".
Whatever your favourite sport is make sure you are properly prepared with sports socks
