American Football's governing body fined the running back for the infringement which happened during Sunday's conference championship game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Gore, who scored two touchdowns in the second half to earn his team a place in next month's Superbowl in New Orleans, fell foul of the league's stringent rules on a player's uniform.
"When you're playing, you don't think about it," Gore told Associated Press on Wednesday. "You're trying to win."
This is not the first time that Gore has sparked controversy. The 29-year-old was fined the same amount at the end of the regular season for throwing a ball into the stands after a touchdown.
Many pundits have called the fine against Gore harsh, noting that Washington Redskins' Trent Williams was fined only $7,875 for punching Seattle Seahawks' Richard Sherman in a playoff game earlier this month, in a seemingly unprovoked attack.
