Second baby boy for Shakira and Gerard Pique

Second baby boy for Shakira and Gerard Pique

Pop star Shakira and footballer Gerard Pique are celebrating the birth of their second child together.

The Colombian singer, seen here in a pair of knee socks , reportedly gave birth to a boy late on Thursday at the Teknon clinic in Barcelona.

Both mother and baby are doing well in hospital. The couple, who met while she was filming a video for her song Waka Waka for the South Africa World Cup in 2010, have decided to call their new arrival Sacha.

Shakira, 37, and Pique, 27, had their first child, Milan, two years ago.

The weight of the baby is not yet known, while the Spanish media claim the birth was by caesarean section.

Photographers captured the arrival of the celebrity couple on Thursday, having waited outside the hospital for days in anticipation of their arrival. The news of the latest addition to their family has been celebrated by fans.

Pique played for Barcelona on Wednesday in their 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid in the quarter-final of the Copa del Rey. It sealed an impressive 4-2 aggregate victory for the Catalans.

Keira Knightley 'a spelling error'

Keira Knightley 'a spelling error'

Anyone who has ever spelled Keira Knightley's first name incorrectly can be forgiven for the mistake as she has revealed her mum got it wrong too when she registered her birth.

The star of the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and last year's hit The Imitation Game, pictured in black tights at the Elle Style Awards, describes herself as a "spelling error". She told Elle UK magazine that she was named after Russian ice skater Kiera Ivanov, who her father was a fan of.

But when her mother registered her birth she wrote Keira rather than Kiera. When the couple found out about the error it was too late to change the spelling.

Keira is hoping that her misspelt name will be read out on stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood next month as the winner of the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. She has been nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in The Imitation Game.

Taylor Swift to protect 1989 phrases

Taylor Swift to protect 1989 phrases

Taylor Swift has appealed to the law in a bid to stop companies cashing in on some of her lyrics.

The pop princess, seen here wearing smart tights at a performance in London, has moved to trademark several phrases from her album 1989.

Swift's legal trademark application will stop companies marketing her lyrics on goods including toiletries, guitar straps and typewriters.

"Party like it's 1989" and "nice to meet you, where you been?" are among the prohibited phrases from the chart-topping album, released last October.

Others include "this sick beat", "cause we never go out of style" and "could show you incredible things".

The album 1989, which has sold over four million sales in only three months, is named after the 25-year-old American star's birth year.

Swift was in the news again earlier in the week when she condemned people who had hacked into her Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Fancy end to the year for rapper Iggy

Fancy end to the year for rapper Iggy

It's easy to feel small when you've got a basketball giant as your boyfriend.

But a loved-up Iggy Azalea was walking tall as she saw out 2014 playing at a fashionable Las Vegas nightclub on New Year's Eve.

The 24-year-old rapper, wearing patterned tights and silver-heeled boots that reached up to her knees, looked a model of contentment with National Basketball Association (NBA) star Nick Young.

Australian-born Azalea, 24, crowned a productive year by performing at Drai's lively Beach Club with 6ft 7in (2.01m)Young, 29, in tow.

The Fancy and Millionaire Misfits rapper reached up to the Los Angeles Lakers not-so-small small forward and shooting guard and seemed to sprinkle confetti over his hair.

The pair larked about after the confetti had been shot onto the stage by a canon when the clock hit 12 and sealed the new year with a kiss.

Azalea, put the loving photograph on Instagram on New Years Day.

Ora has looks to match The Voice

Ora has looks to match The Voice

Rita Ora's singing skills aren't her only talent, according to her fellow judge on The Voice, Will.i.am.

The producer and Black Eyed Peas star - pictured here at the launch of the BBC1 talent show wearing a stylish hat - says that Ora's line for Adidas trainers is one of her biggest accomplishments.

He said that Ora, who has topped the charts four times in the UK, her most recent number one being I Will Never Let You Down, was up there with the likes of Pharrell Williams in terms of her design work.

And he said he saw her as being similar to Stella McCartney, so highly does he rate her achievements.

Ora follows in the footsteps of Danny O'Donoghue from The Script, Jessie J and Kylie Minogue as a judge on the singing show, which has maintained a steady following since its launch in 2012.

She will take her place among the revolving chairs of fellow judges Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am and the Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson.

Charity collects socks for homeless

Charity collects socks for homeless

A homelessness charity donated more than 17,000 pairs of socks to people living on the streets in 2014.

Socks and Chocs was founded in 2010 by Ian Northcott, a former soldier from Birmingham who wanted to do something to help the many homeless people he encountered as part of his later work as a policeman.

Mr Northcott said that soldiers who were out in the field were told to put on a fresh pair of clean socks every day, and he remembered how much of a difference this simple action made.

He then decided to enlist the help of his friends to gather 500 pairs of socks, 1,000 chocolate bars and £500 to buy sleeping bags.

The charity now collects socks and other pieces of clothing for homeless people, and donated 17,072 pairs of socks to rough sleepers last year.

Socks and Chocs is now also looking for people in Exeter to donate socks to its campaign.

Actress Amanda wore an off-the-shoulder red peplum dress and had bright red lipstick. Her long blond hair was parted in the centre.

Alesha, the former Misteeq star, opted for a black strapless number with a split up to her thigh. Her accessories were in gold, with rings, bangles and a chain.
