Self-confessed "hosiery hoarder" Gemma Cartwright has asserted that tights and socks are now officially wardrobe staples.
Making her comments for online resource Catwalk Queen, the fashion-forward writer notes that hosiery
in all shapes and forms is back on the style agenda, citing Kate Moss, Daisy Lowe, Fearne Cotton and Lindsay Lohan as well-known legwear
Ms Cartwright attributes the rise of tights
to the mini-skirts recent comeback, adding that in British weather exposing so much flesh is unthinkable.
"You can do so much with a good pair of tights
or stockings," she muses, adding that vertical striped tights
can be used to lengthen legs, while opaques hide a multitude of bodily flaws and bright coloured tights liven up a dull ensemble.
Winter woolly tights
also give your wardrobe more scope, as summer outfits can be teamed with them in the colder months for a whole new look, Ms Cartwright concludes.
Meanwhile, style resource My Fashion Life recently noted that thick everyday tights
can take this summer's high-waisted shorts into the winter season.
