Children 'must pick up their socks'

Children 'must pick up their socks'
Children should be taught the importance of clean clothes from a young age as a means of setting them up for an easier and self-conscious life in future years, it is believed.

Donna Bruschi, writing for the Examiner, explained that teenagers in particular must have reinforcement for responsible behaviour, noting that parents ought to treat laundry with the laws of natural consequences.

If these are adopted, clothing such as socks that aren't washed will remain dirty and smelly, in effect forcing the kids to consider personal hygiene in the house, she added.

From here, Ms Bruschi said hosiery and other items will build a strong base for learning about washing, giving younger ones a little bit more in terms of necessary skills and independence while lightening the load on the parent.

White socks have experienced a renaissance in recent weeks following the death of Michael Jackson, who pioneered the look with tight black trousers and black shoes to highlight the contrast.
