Growing numbers of British brides are opting to wear unconventional footwear for their big day, according to a leading industry expert.
Flat shoes are increasingly being paired with the bride's choice of tights
, and hosiery
, in place of the traditional high-heel, claims the Wedding Planner School.
Senior tutor at the institution, Amber Hunter, noted that the change could have come about because of a growing realisation that high-heels are not the most practical shoes when it comes to tying the knot.
She noted: "Brides have always regretted choosing four inch heels for their big day, but the smart ones prepare well and don a pair of flats at some point in the day.
"Outdoor receptions on grass ideally require flat shoes to prevent sinking ... but they are most valuable in the evening for the first dance."
Vogue recently revealed that Lily Allen will be wearing both flat and heeled shoes at her upcoming wedding - with both pairs set to be designed by Rupert Sanderson.
